Christenings and Baptism

We always welcome enquiries about a Christening. We usually suggest that the family or parents attend church for about four Sundays before the special day. Sometimes we run a special course for parents and god-parents. This can be a great help, for understanding the meaning of the Baptism promises.

Please note: at least one parent, and all god-parents, need to have been Christened themselves. But please don’t be put off by this – we like to use this situation as an opportunity to explain the Christian faith.

The usual day for a Christening is Sunday. Sometimes we can include it as Baptism in our regular 11.00 am Communion Service. Otherwise we suggest 12.45 for a service just for the families involved. There is no charge – God’s love comes free!
